Next up it’s Perry Park on 10th December. That’s almost a home fixture so no excuses for not running. And then it’s back to Warley Woods for the County Championships in January.

Birmingham XC League Div 1 – 11 November

20171114_205835

A big thank you to all those who ran on Saturday at Cheltenham. The A team finished 13th out of 16 teams which puts us just above the relegation zone, not bad considering we were missing a number of regular A team counters. Well done to our x/c debutants Barry, Valentin and Ashley who all scored in the A team – something to live up to now lads (except for Valentin who will be leaving the UK this week to return to France – Thank you and all the best for the future, we hope you have some happy memories of RSCAC and English cross country to take home with you).

An even bigger thank you to Bob Owen who acted as our “Official” for the day, saving a penalty of 200 points had we not provided our “finish funnel” official.

The 2nd fixture is on Saturday 2nd December at Park Hall Country Park, Hulme Road, Weston Coyney, Stoke-on-Trent (post code for SAT-NAV ST3 5AX). Please let Steve know if you are planning to compete.

Midlands Women’s XC League – 11 November

20171114_205925Here’s Roy’s report from the 1st women’s XC match at Coventry on Saturday.
An excellent performance by our team finishing in 13th position, with 6 runners turning out, our best for a long time. The team consisted off
  • Gemma Sidaway
  • Georgia Delaney
  • Rachel Thebridge
  • Kirsty Stygall
  • Lydia Sergiew
  • Lucy Stubbs
It was great to see Kirsty, Lydia and Lucy turning out for us for the first time and special thanks must go to Lydia completing the last lap with an extremely painful heal blister and Lucy turning up although recovering from illness.
So thank you all for running and I look forward to seeing you and others on the start line at Stratford on the 2nd December.

Birmingham Marathon and Half Marathon

Barry - Birmingham MarathonSome fantastic runs by RSC athletes on the streets of Birmingham today. In the marathon Barry Lloyd had a superb race to finish 25th in 2.52. There were also great runs by Ashley Powell, Chris Taylor, Dean Lucas, Steve Pitt (guiding) and Mike Deasy.

In the Half Marathon Ollie Harradence finished 8th in 1.14. There were further strong performances by Matt Bennett (breaking 1.30), Lyn Hunter and Tamara Savage. Well done all!

West Midlands Young Athletes XC

A fantastic effort by all our Young Athletes who kicked off the XC season at Hatton Country World today. Conditions were very “un-cross country like” with a fast rock hard course and mild temperatures – I’m sure it won’t be like that in December and January!!! The club finished 4th overall with lots of great individual and team performances. Well done everyone!
