Nicholas Pryce and Chrissie Prince showed good early season form in the 1st Midland Indoor Open at the Alexander Stadium. Nicholas ran 7.27 in the 60m sprint. Chrissie threw 9.22m to win the U17 Shot Putt and 28.21m to finish 2nd in the U17 Discus.

Warwickshire County Championships – 3rd January
There were some great performances by Royal Sutton athletes at the Warwickshire County Championships at Cofton yesterday. Torrential morning rain led to some horrendous muddy wet conditions, in particular for the early races – of the seven RSC athletes competing in the U13 girls race only four finished the race with both shoes!!!
The highlight was a superb individual gold medal for Shaun Evans in the U17 men’s race. He led home the team of Alex Jones, Max Sellars and Alex Blackham to a team gold, with Alex Jones finishing 3rd and Max Sellars finishing 5th.
Other highlights included a silver for Georgia Curry in the U17 women’s race. In the U15 girl’s race Ellen Humpherston finished 4th and led home the team, which also included Lucy Ollerenshaw and Verity O’Shea, to a bronze. Ben Horton had a strong run in the U15 boys race finishing 9th which puts him in contention for a county vest later this winter. The U13 girl’s team of Caitlin White, Rachel White and Lucy Corker also won team bronze.

The winner of the 100 club Christmas draw for £100 was Trevor Brown – well done Trevor!
Officials wanted
Would you be able to help the club out at competitions by becoming an official? You would be helping the club out massively because we get points for qualified officials (we did in fact get promoted this year in the Heart of England League when our officials points were added on!) You could do timekeeping, field judging (raking a pit, measuring how far a jump/throw is) or track judging (checking athletes stay in lane, checking batons are passed in the right box, making sure everyone runs the right number of laps in distance races &ordering runners as they cross the line).
If you think you can do any of these…can you attend the course on either:
15 March at the Pingles Leisure Centre, Nuneaton or
21 March at Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton

General Christmas training
Please speak to your coach if you are unsure of Christmas training times (Brian’s group and the Sprints / jumps group times are detailed below) but generally…
Young athletes will be training from ten till half eleven/midday on Tues and Sundays throughout the holidays.
Seniors are training six to eight as usual tomorrow (Tuesday 23rd).
No training on Christmas Day.
As far as I’m aware, there is no training on new years day but it is best to check this with your coach.

West Midlands Young Athletes XC League – 7 December
Well done to everyone who competed in round 3 of the West Midlands Young Athletes XC at Warley Woods on Sunday. There were some great individual and team performances on a really challenging course. Shaun Evans continued his great form to finish 3rd in the U17 men’s race. The U17 men’s team, which also included Jerome Austin and Max Sellers finished in 3rd place.
Lewis Duval had a great run to finish 4th in the U13 boys race. In the U17 women’s race Georgia Curry was first home for the club with a superb 7th place finish. Other top ten finishers included Ryley Thomas, who was 7th home in the U11 boy’s race, Elsa Buchanan who was 10th in the U11 girls race and Georgia Platt who was 9th in the U13 girls race.
There were strong team performances in particular by the U11 girls and U13 girls. The U11 girls team of Elsa Buchanan, Hope Stirland, Arantxa Middleton, Sian Duval and Harriet Martin finished 2nd. The U13 girls team of Georgia Platt, Grace Ballinger, Katie Beresford, Lucy Corker and Tamsym Booth finished 3rd.
Overall the club finished 5th on the day out of 19 clubs and are in 5th place after 3 of the 5 races.
