There is no training at Wyndley tonight because UK Athletics have exclusive use of the track. Friday training will resume next week. Enjoy your evening off!

National Javelin Carnival Success
Jasmine Walker (U15) competed at the National Javelin Carnival
Competition at Loughborough on Sunday, throwing against top-ranked
athletes. She finished 10th out of the 20 athletes, many of whom were in
the top year of the age group. She achieved a throw of 30m 46cm, her
first throw over the magic 30m mark and leap-frogged back to the top of
the WM Pof10 rankings; also moving up to 38th in the UK. This was
valuable experience for her in that she was able to watch how the top
throwers, (including the No1 and No2 UK-ranked athletes Bethany Moule
and Annabel Peach), warmed up and prepared for the event.
Lower YDL Team narrowly squeezed into second place at Tipton
Much to the surprise of everyone present, the Lower YDL athletes were not victorious at Tipton. Despite a number of athletes achieving first and second place, they were pipped to the post by Dudley and Stourbridge who achieved 482 points to RSC 481. All the athletes present, worked really hard to produce in the majority of cases new PBs.
A big well done in particular to those athletes who took part in events that they were not familiar with and in some cases with very little notice – Harriet Martin, Jess Cope, Jack Wakefield, Caitlin Ralph, Zara Buchanan, James Moran and David Iliffe.
Some of our young athletes are doing particularly well in the Power of 10 rankings – Isabel Male, Daniel Olatundun, Elsa Buchanan and Maddie Hammond.
For the future, an analysis of the results from Tipton, shows that the Dudley and Stourbridge team fielded athletes in a larger number of events which enabled them to accumulate more points.
The good news is that after two of four competitions, RSC are joint first with Bicester on 13 points; DASH (Dudley and Stourbridge) and Tamworth are joint third with 11 points. However, the next two competitions are hosted by DASH and Tamworth, so it will need a big turn out for RSC to maintain first place.
Let’s go for it Royal Sutton!
Warwickshire County Championships
Well done to all our are athletes who competed at the county Champs last weekend. There were some fantastic performances and a great haul of medals. The standout performance during the weekend came from Maddie Hammond who won both the U13 800m and 1500m. The winning time of 2.26.5 in the 800m was a championship record. Maddie also won a silver medal in the 200m proving that distance runners can sprint.
There were also two new club records:
- Lauren Hammond in the U15 300m with a time of 43.99. She finished in third place in the Final beating the old record of 44.39 set by Jennie Hopkinson last year.
- Sherri Smart in the Senior Women’s Hammer with a throw of 30.92m. This beats her old record set last year of 30.16m.

PRESENTATION EVENING 2016
The last two Presentation Evenings have been both very popular and successful and the club’s Management Committee would like this year’s event to be even better.

We are in the planning stage at the moment and knowing that nearer the event a number of the organisers are unavailable, we are looking for someone to work alongside the organisers and committee members.
You could be the one that brings that little bit extra to our Presentation Evening !
