Muninder is a triple European Champion!!!

13680789_1064074000340127_281010602313569137_nMuninder Singh Hayer and his coach Graham Felton have just returned from Copenhagen where Muninder was competing for England in The CPISRA Racerunning Open European Championships. This was Muninder’s first overseas competition and he rose to the challenge magnificently. He won all his heats and made the finals in 5 events with the following results
  • 40 metres Gold Medal
  • 60 metres Gold Medal
  • 100 metres Gold Medal
  • 200 metres Silver Medal
  • 400 metres 4th
TThat meant 10 races for Muninder over 2 days of competition and all this achieved after only taking up the sport just over a month ago.  He produced new personal bests in every event.
Now he is Triple European Champion and raring to go on to even greater heights.
The England team managed to win 8 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze medals in total and a wonderful time was had by all.

Record Breaker!

Many congratulations to Isabel Male, u 13 girl, who broke two sprint records at the Lower YDL competition on Saturday.

Isabel ran the 75 m in 10.5 seconds and the 150 m in 20.6 seconds. Isabel is unbeaten this season in the YDL competition, gaining first place in all her races. She is now ranked  3rd in the Midlands for the 75 m and 3rd for the 150 m.

Both of these records have stood since 1998, which is testament to how speedy Isabel is – and with another 12 months in the u 13 age group.

‘Star Track’ summer athletics scheme

Any child who wants to become the next Greg Rutherford or Jessica Ennis-Hill should ask to attend this year’s summer athletics scheme.  Star Track is an excellent induction to athletics for 8 – 14 year olds.  Over 3 days they will try every athletics event except pole vault.

RSCAC are running 2 Star Track weeks this year, at Wyndley:

1/2/3 August

15/16/17 August

All sessions are 10am – 3pm and the cost is £40 for the 3 days.

Success for U11s at Heart of England

U11s HoEChrissie P reports on some great performances by our young stars:

The Under 11’s have been out competing at the Heart of England league all season and have all done exceptionally well going out pushing and supporting each other all season doing the club and all the young athletes proud. Every single one of them have broke at least one personal best whilst competing this season and we have even had some club records broken:

  • Charlotte Prince in the 600m who broke the old record by 5 seconds running an exceptional 1.57.5 at the second meeting in Coventry
  • Superstar Harrison North broke the 75m club record in a time of 11.1 and the howler club record by 6 meters with a throw of 25.15 all in his first ever competition for the club!

Well done Alfie, Joshua, Harrison, Jayden, Martha, Alice, Charlotte, Olivia and Evie and all other under 11’s who have competed this season – you’ve all done us all very proud.

Well done to all who competed at yesterday’s Heart of England

Yesterday’s Heart of England at Redditch saw glorious weather and many great performances off Royal Sutton athletes.  With athletes in 4 age groups competing, both male and female, it is too difficult to mention individuals without leaving someone out and I certainly don’t want to leave anyone out because everyone tried their hardest and performed well.  So it’s a big well done to everyone as well as special praise to those who filled in on extra events to cover for last minute cancellations.  The results haven’t been published yet, so keep checking the Heart of England website to see if we manage to stay in Division 1. http://www.hofe-league.org.uk/

Match report – Midland League

20160702_171338Here’s John’s report from our 3rd match of the season at Oxford:
Hi Everyone, The provisional results are now available for the 2nd match of the season. Unfortunately for us we did not do as well as I had hoped and only finished in 6th place – however amazingly we are still in 2nd place overall  the league! The final meeting is at Solihull on Sunday the 7th August where we could win promotion but at the same time we could be relegated so lets get out the strongest team we possibly can and fill every event. The position after 3 meetings is

It certainly was a day of mixed fortunes for us with two DQs, no throws and illness affecting our points scored. Once again there were many excellent performances with a super team atmosphere with athletes filling in where possible. The men’s distance duo of Nick Corker and Paul Thompson seemed to be competing all the time with Nick, in his first track meeting of the year competing in the 400m hurdles, 1500m, 2000m SChase, 5000m, triple jump and the javelin.
Conditions were not ideal with a strong blustery wind affecting performances however two new club records were set and four personal bests achieved.
CLUB RECORDS
Chrissie Prince Discus( Under 20)31.25m. This beats her old record of 30.98 set recently .Chrissie competes in The English Schools next weekend where we wish her all the best
Graham Felton Discus (2Kg) M65 20.14m. This beats his old record of 19.66 set in 2015

The mens relay team of Kane H, Lee H, Shem N and Nick P once again ran fast times with the 4×1 time just 0.1 secs off the club record. The splits for the 4×4 time of 3.26.9 were
