New Club Record and PB – Nicholas Pryce

Nic broke his own Senior indoor Club record in taking 3rd place in his semifinal of the British University Champs in Sheffield on Sunday in a time of 21.90. His old record was 21.91 set in 2012.

On Friday he set a new PB of 6.98 in his 60m semifinal.  His old PB was 7.01 set in 2013. Well done Nic.

Results from the Birmingham Games

Some excellent results, with a gold medal for Isabel Male in the u 15 girls 200 metres (25.79 SB and indoor PB) and a silver for Joseph Martin in the 1500 metres (4:20:82 SB and indoor PB).

Bethany Connelly and Lola Woodward continue to impress, both setting new PBs in their events. Beth achieved 28.46 in the 200m and 8.71 in the 60m; Lola 8.81 in the 60m.

Sprint Stars

Four of our sprint athletes were in action last weekend; Kane Howitt (senior men) in the British Championships and Isabel Male, Bethany Connelly and Lola Woodward (u15 girls) in the Midlands Counties Championships.

Kane ran 7.01 in the 60m and an indoor PB of 21.96 in the 200m.

Izzy came first in both her 60 m races, achieving a seasons best in the final of 8.03 to take the gold medal and Midlands Championships title (photo above).

Bethany and Lola both impressed, running 60m PBs (8.83 and 8.91).

Well done Kane, Izzy, Bethany and Lola.

Regional Sportshall Success

Well done to the RSCAC athletes who were part of successful Birmingham Teams at the Sportshall Regional Finals on Sunday.

All Birmingham Teams were either 1st or 2nd – a fantastic team effort from everyone!

Cardiff Met Grand Prix 2

Kane Howitt broke his own Senior Club Record with a time of 6.93 secs in taking 5th place in the Final.  This breaks his own record of 6.99 set in 2018. He also recorded 6.94 in his heat.

He won the number one 200m race too in a time of 22.07, which was the fastest time recorded at the meet of 13 races. This is a new indoor PB for Kane beating his previous best of 22.35.

Midland XC Championships

Sutton’s U13 girls followed up their success in the Schools’ races by taking team medals in the Midland cross-country championships at Leamington last Saturday 26th.  The team finished 3rd out of the 26 competing Midland clubs. The scorers and bronze medal winners were Martha Wood (10th), Mante Nausedaite (13th), Charlotte Prince (35th), and Emily Symes (42nd) in a field of 121 runners. Good back-up support came from Francesca Allen (59th) and Olivia Allen (61st). Good runs also from Sammie Wakefield, Eva Kelly, and Lucy Rigby.

In the U15 girl’s race, notable performances from Lucy Carey (16th) and Sian Duval (32nd) with excellent support runs from Elsa and Zara Buchanan, and Jess Hales in her first championship race.

The U20 race featured brave performances from WM Schools’ champion Ellen Humpherston (15th) and Georgia Delaney.
