Muninder win 5 medals and secures 4 world records at the World Champs

Muninder at the worldsHere’s Graham’s report of Muninder’s fantastic trip to Denmark:

Royal Sutton Coldfield athlete Muninder Singh Hayer won 5 medals at the Racerunning World Championships in Denmark. In the 100 metres he made a poor start but came through to win Bronze Medal. At 400 metres he knocked 12 seconds off his PB and won Silver and in doing so beat the previous World Record, now one of only 2 athletes to go sub 2 minutes. At 800 metres a 17 second PB and won Silver, beating the old World Record. In both the 400 and 800m he was beaten by Henrick Errikson from Sweden, if you have to lose to someone then Henrick is the man, a true friend and a great athlete, well done Henrick. In the 200 metres Muninder set a World Record of 52.19 seconds in the heats and then won gold in the final in another World Record of 52 00 seconds. In the 60 metres Muninder won Gold in a new PB. So to summarise: 5 events, 5 medals, 2 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze. 4 PB’s and 4 World Records. Coach Graham Felton said I’ll settle for that but he is disappointed about the 100m which he knows should have been Gold, that’s the mark of a true champion. So proud of you.

MuninderOn a very hot Saturday at Doncaster Muninder Singh Hayer had the perfect last competition prior to competing in The World Racerunning Championships in Denmark from the 9th to the 15th July. in blazing sunshine and with temperatures well over 30 degrees, he competed over 200, 400 and 800 metres over the space of 5 hours. He set New World Records over 200 and 800 metres knocking 1.5 seconds off the 200 record and 5 seconds off the 800 record. In addition he set a new PB over 400 metres. This was just about the perfect preparation for Denmark and he is travelling with high expectations of winning Gold Medals and further improving theses records.
