LA5 – Final Race info
I hope you’re all looking forward to the Little Aston 5 mile road race and 2 mile fun run. The weather forecast is great so it should be a cracking day. If you have already paid for your entry your number will be at race HQ (Little Aston School, Forge Lane, B74 3BE). Otherwise entries are available on the day (although they are limited for the 5 mile road race).
Parking is available on Forge Lane at the school/recreation ground. Our marshalls will direct you once you get onto Forge Lane. The start time for both races is 11am so get there nice and early to give yourself plenty of time to warm up.

LA5 – Only ‘On the Day’ Entry Available
The big day is almost here! Pre-race entry for the LA5 has now closed. There are now only limited places for the 5 mile run, available on Sunday morning.
We shall be taking entries for the 2 mile Fun Run on the day too.
British Masters, England U17 Champs, Charnwood Open
What a great weekend for our athletes.
We had 6 athletes competing in the British Masters Champs at Alexander Stadium, all putting in excellent performances.
Janice Pryce took 1st place in the W55 Triple Jump with 9.65m, which is a seasons best and only 10cms away from her British record. She also took 4th place in the Long Jump with 3.98m.
Kevin Brown took 1st place in the M50 Discus with 41.50m.
Donald Brown was 2nd in the M50 100m Hurdles in 15.43 (a seasons best) and 4th in the 100m Final in 12.39 with 12.41 in his heat.
Rob Andrew took the silver in the M55 1500m in 4.43.24, which is a M55 PB. David Price also took silver in the M75 Javelin with 23.15m, a seasons best.
Lorna Foster took the bronze in the W55 Discus with 23.78m and finished in 6th place in the Shot with 8.44m and in 9th place in the Hammer with 24.71m.
RSCAC masters athletes: Janice, Rob, Donald and Fred Tremblay are off to Spain next month to the World Masters. We wish them the best of luck.
Not to be outdone by our masters athletes, we had two athletes competing in the England Under 17 Champs at Bedford. Jasmine Walker (a first year under 17) threw the Javelin 37.90m to take 6th place. (She was the top midlands thrower.) Lewis Duval also finished in 6th place in the 1500m Steeplechase in a seasons best of 4.49.86.
We also had 4 young athletes competing in the Charnwood Open.
Maddie Hughes took 1st place in the Under 15 Hammer with 37.03m, 1st place in the Discus with 21.83m and 2nd place in the Shot with 8.50m (a seasons best).
Elsa Buchanan was 2nd in the Under 15 Long jump with 4.64m and 4th in the 75m Hurdles in 14.08 (a PB).
Zara Buchanan was 7th in the Under 15 Long Jump with 4.10m and 6th in the 75m Hurdles in 15.50 (a PB).
Ethan Cook was 2nd in the Under 13 75m Hurdles in 13.88 and 6th in the High Jump with 1.45m. Both of these were PBs.
There was an open event on in Dudley yesterday where further club athletes braved the awful weather to compete. The results haven’t yet been published, so we will update you on them in due course. Hopefully all competitors have now dried off and warmed up!

Success for Katie Ingle at Manchester International
Katie Ingle,running for England,took first place in the 3K Steeplechase at yesterday’s Manchester International. This was in a season’s best time of 10.08.16 and was only six seconds away from her lifetime best. She was more than 50 secs ahead of the second placed athlete!
Midlands U13, U15 and U17 Champs
The success of Team GB at the European Champs wasn’t the only athletics success this weekend! Young athletes from Team RSC have emulated the success of their Team GB heroes at the Milands Championships.
Our very own Dina Asher-Smith, Isabel Male, who is a first year Under 15, took first place in the 100m final in a time of 12.45 secs. This is a new Club record beating her old outdoor record of 12.7 set earlier this year.
Jasmine Walker, a first year Under 17, continued her fine form in taking 2nd place in the Javelin.
Elsa Buchanan took 3rd place in the Under 15 Long Jump (just like Shara Proctor) in a new PB and she was 7th in the 300m Final.
Zara Buchanan was 11th in the Under 15 Long Jump in a new PB and she also set a PB in her heat of the 300m.
Like Adelle Tracey, Lucy Carey was 4th in the Under 15 800m final, having set a new PB in winning her heat. She also took 5th place in the 1500m Final.
Caitlin Ralph narrowly missed out on making the Final of the under 15 75m Hurdles after finishing in 3rd place in her heat.
James Ward (our Under 17 multi eventer) had a very busy few days competing in 5 events. He took 1st place in the Shot Put, 2nd place in the High Jump in a PB, 8th place in the 200m in a PB, 8th place in the 400m in a PB and 8th place in the Long Jump.
Joe Martin, a first year Under 17, who fractured his wrist approximately 10 days ago, took 8th place in the 800m Final.
Well done – we will be looking out for you all at a European Champs in the future!
Promotion for RSCAC Seniors!
After an outstanding team performance today, Royal Sutton Coldfield’s Seniors have secured promotion into Division 3 of the Midlands League.
A massive well done to all the athletes who took part as well as to our officials who secured us maximum ‘officials points’.
There were many 1st places, PBs and Season’s Bests today, showing that everyone truly gave their all. Below is the winning 4 x 400m men’s team of: Shaun Evans, Frederic Tremblay, Kane Howitt and Nicholas Pryce.
We only found out we had secured promotion right at the end, which is why this photo is only of a third of the team!
25th Little Aston 5 – entries now open
Entries to the 25th Little Aston 5 mile road race and 2 mile fun run are now open on the Run Britain website. The race is organised by Royal Sutton Coldfield Athletics Club and will take place on Sunday 2 September, starting in Forge Lane, Little Aston, B74 3BE.
The race this year is sponsored by Hydro Mechanical Services Limited and Henwood Court Financial Planning. We thank both our sponsors for their generous support.
YDL Promotion Final – 5th Place Finish
Well done to all the U13s and U15s who competed at Banbury yesterday in the Lower Age YDL Promotion Final. A 5th place finish is a great result, as due to holidays we only had 2 U15s boys! It was great to see so many PBs at the last lower age group event of the year.
Thank you to all the officials and team managers, as without you this event wouldn’t have gone ahead.
