Donald Brown wins gold, silver and bronze at the European Master Championships

get-attachmentGreat news from Torun, Poland where Donald Brown claimed gold, silver and bronze medals at the European Masters Championships. Here’s his report back:

“Ecstatic after winning the Gold Medal to become the M50 European Masters Champion in the 60m hurdles.  My winning time of 8.66 was a personal best and ranks me number 1 in the world for 2015.  I was also thrilled to win the Bronze in the 60m sprint with another personal best of 7.47 and and Silver Medal in the 4 x 200m relay.  An incredible experience, awesome venue and fabulous medical team.”

Well done Donald – we’re all delighted for you!!!

Royal Sutton win bronze at the Midland Road Relays

IMG_0129 (2)A fantastic effort by our senior women saw Royal Sutton win bronze at the Midland Road Relays. Well done to Mel Woodward, Katie Ingle, Larna Partridge, Kate McBrien, Megan McBrien and Laura Whittle.

On a course slightly altered from previous years, Mel Woodward got us off to a flying start on the 1st leg with a time of 17.53 to put us into 3rd place – this was the 9th fastest time of the day. Katie Ingle had a good run after a winter disrupted by injuries to keep us in third place with a time of 18.43. Larna Partridge and Kate McBrien ran well on legs 3 and 4 to keep us in contention with the leading clubs, with the team in 7th place after 4 legs. Megan McBrien ran 18.52 on leg 5 to move the team up three places behind only Bristol & West, Charnwood AC and Birchfield. Laura Whittle ran the final leg in 17.13, the 2nd fastest time of the day, overtaking Birchfield to bring Royal Sutton home 3rd.

The men’s team finished in 36th place out of 73 teams (provisional results). Paul Terleski ran the fastest long leg for the team, whilst Fred Tremblay and Tom Chew ran the fastest short legs. There were also strong runs from Edward McGrath on his birthday and Mark Rickards. Without forgetting all those who fought hard to try and move the team up the table all afternoon, some of which were drafted at the last minute to help get a team out to compete. Well done everyone – great effort!
