Taster sessions – resume on Thursday
6th January 2019 – MCAA 1st Midlands Open Meeting at Alexander Stadium AND Sale Harriers Open, Manchester
The first sprint competition in the Midlands this year saw five RSCAC athletes competing in the 60 metres.
Bethany Connolly and Lola Woodward (both lower u 15) ran well in their debut 60 m races, with Beth recording times of 9.01 and 8.86 and Lola 9.17 and 9.08.
Isabelle Male (upper u 15 girl) was the fastest in her age group in times of 8.05 and 8.07.
David Iliffe (upper u 17) ran a PB in his first race 7.58, followed by 7.59 in the second.
John Furber (first year u 20) ran well in his debut 60 m race with a time of 7.49.
While this was happening in Birmingham, Nicholas Pryce (senior) was competing in Manchester, recording 7.09 in the 60m (3rd) and 22.56 in the 200m (3rd).
A great start to the season.
Tuesday sessions at Plantsbrook start back on 15 January. All sessions are at the track this week.
This week all groups are back to normal training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday, 6 – 8pm at Wyndley.
For the Sprint Squad and those doing indoor Sportshall competitions, from Tuesday 15th January up to and including 19th March, Tuesdays are at Plantsbrook 5.50 – 7.50 pm.

Sportshall Success
The second Birmingham Sportshall (on 1st December) saw some excellent team and individual performances. 4 teams secured 1st place (u11 boys, u13 girls, u15 girls and u15 boys) and 2 teams secured 2nd place (u11 girls and u13 boys).

Reminder – No Plantsbrook Sessions Until 18th December
Tony/Liz/Nikki/Meg’s group are at the track tonight.
The next indoor session at Plansbrook is Tuesday 18th December. (Plantsbrook have 3 weeks of exams in the sportshall so it’s full of desks.)

Success in Sheffield
On Sunday 25th November, Isabel Male (u 15) and David Iliffe (u 17) travelled to the EIS, Sheffield to compete in the Notts AAA open meeting. With heat selection based on times, both Izzy and David ran against senior men.
In the 60 metres, Izzy came 3rd in her heat in 8.12 seconds and 5th in her final in 8.08 seconds. In the 300 metres, David came 1st in 38.7 seconds.
Both Izzy and David were the second fastest in their age group.
Well done both.
