No Training Tonight

Having looked at the latest weather forecast, we have decided to cancel tonight’s training. Windchill factors of minus 15 plus the possibility of heavy snow later would render training as a counter-productive and somewhat hazardous exercise.

Enjoy the evening and stay warm.

60m Successes

In the Midland Indoor Champs Isabel Male (first year Under 15) continued her sparkling form to take the bronze medal in the Under 15 60m in 8.22 secs. Earlier she had won her heat in 8.22 and her semifinal in 8.17 which is a new PB . The two girls ahead of her are both second year Under 15s. Her 8.17 is getting ever closer to the Club record of 8.11 set by Lois Cresswell back in 1994.

In the same meeting, Gideon Akinkuolie (first year Under 17) recorded 8.11 in his first ever 60m.

Meanwhile Donald Brown (M50) continues his preparations for the European Masters Indoors in Madrid in March by recording times of 7.94 and 7.98 in the 60m in the Loughborough Students AC Open.

Indoor Success this Weekend

Kane Howitt took 3rd place in the 200m Senior Mens A race in the London Senior Games at Lee Valley in a time of 22.35 which is a PB (old indoors PB was 23.47)

Donald Brown (M50) started his 2018 season with times of 7.91 and 8.04 at the same meeting and was competing in the Senior Mens category. Donald, along with Janice Pryce (Triple Jump and Long Jump), is preparing for the European Masters Indoor Champs taking place in Madrid on March 19th to 24th.

Meanwhile at the Midland Counties Indoors Open at Alexander Stadium, Isabel Male (first year U15) set two new PBs of 8.20 and 8.26 in 1st and 3rd places in the 60m (old PB set 2 weeks ago was 8.30). Isabel is getting closer and closer to the Club record of 8.11 which has stood for over 23 years.

In his first ever Indoor Competition, David Iliffe (first year U 17) recorded times of 7.86 and 7.91 in his 60m races. An excellent start to his 2018 season.
