Midlands T&F League – 4 June

The T&F club squad put in a battling performance on Sunday, at the Midlands T&F meeting in Coventry.

We finally finished in 5th place with our very small team which had a super team spirit..

There were 14 events in which we had no athletes competing, but all of those who were able to make it put in some great performances resulting in twelve first places, nine second places and three third places.

Well done to everyone of you.

We spotted the following new personal bests.

Shaun Evans improved his 800m best by almost 5 seconds in winning the B 800m. In doing so he dipped under the symbolic 2 minutes mark, with some great front running (1’58.6).
This was the day after setting a new PB in taking first place in the 3000m at the BMC  PB Classic at Milton Keynes  !
The sprinters men did the magic treble, by winning both A&B races of the 100m, 200m and 400m. Well done Nicholas, Kane and Shem.
Kane also set a Division 3 League record for the 200m in 21.8.
Hannah Smith set a new PB in the 400m Hurdles, as did her Mum Fiona in the 200m.
A special thanks to our officials, RuthJaneDerekIanSherri, and Arnie who gave us the maximum points possible.

Another world record for Muninder

800m WR FinishOn a glorious Saturday 27th May at York Athletics Club Royal Sutton Coldfield Athletics Club athlete Muninder Singh Hayer made his debut over 800 metres in the RR1 race running category at the CP Sport Grand Prix meeting. Muninder had been training hard for this new distance since breaking the 200 metre World Record in Yeovil at the beginning of April and training had been going well. In the event Muninder set a new World Record of 4.35.5 seconds Knocking a massive 19.87 seconds off the previous World Record of 4.55.37 seconds. Coach Graham Felton said this was truly an amazing performance and no doubt the shockwaves will by now have reached Copenhagen where Muninder will de competing in the World Championships in early July. With 2 World Records already in the bag this year the aim is to now bring back the Gold Medals, and after a performance like this and still 6 weeks training to go it augers well.

Records galore at inaugural club champs

Harrison, Fraser Ethan finalOn a beautiful sunny Saturday the inaugural RSCAC Club Championships took place at Wyndley Stadium with athletes in age groups U11, U13, U15, U17 and U20 competing across a wide range of track and field events.  Competition was fierce with every event being closely contested. For many of the younger athletes this was their first taste of competition under UKA rules and thanks to a great effort from the parents, officials, helpers and athletes everything went smoothly and a great atmosphere was created.
There were some superb results with a total of 145 Personal Bests and 7 Club Records set so it’s fair to say that there were many proud athletes, parents and coaches by the end of the day.
New Club Record’s were set as follows: U11 Boys Howler Fraser Cook 27.52 metres, U11 Boys 75 metres Harrison North 10.8 seconds, U11 Boys 150 metres Harrison North 21.4 seconds, U11 Girls 1200 metres Lucy Rigby 5.29.3 seconds, U13 Girls 75 metres Isabel Male 10.0 seconds, U13 Girls 150 metres Isabel Male 19.7 seconds and Finally U15 Girls Hammer Meghan Sharman 34.41 metres. So the sprint double by both Isabel and Harrison were major highlights.
No doubt this event will now enter the annual event calendar for next year onwards

Fantastic triathlon debut for Isobel Millington

Here’s a report from Graham about a great debut for Isobel Millington in the triathlon:Isobel Millington 1

Yesterday Royal Sutton Coldfield U15 athlete Isobel Millington competed in her first Triathlon in Cupar, Fife, Scotland. She has been training hard for the event and that training paid off. She finished 8th overall, 2nd women home and 1st in her age group, a great debut. Coach Graham Felton said that he was extremely proud of her achievement and it shows her strength of character, she is a very good sprinter/thrower and this has required a whole new mind set and a totally different training regime. It shows that if you want to try something different and are prepared to put in the hard work required you can be successful. Well done Izzy!
