On a beautiful sunny Saturday the inaugural RSCAC Club Championships took place at Wyndley Stadium with athletes in age groups U11, U13, U15, U17 and U20 competing across a wide range of track and field events. Competition was fierce with every event being closely contested. For many of the younger athletes this was their first taste of competition under UKA rules and thanks to a great effort from the parents, officials, helpers and athletes everything went smoothly and a great atmosphere was created.
There were some superb results with a total of 145 Personal Bests and 7 Club Records set so it’s fair to say that there were many proud athletes, parents and coaches by the end of the day.
New Club Record’s were set as follows: U11 Boys Howler Fraser Cook 27.52 metres, U11 Boys 75 metres Harrison North 10.8 seconds, U11 Boys 150 metres Harrison North 21.4 seconds, U11 Girls 1200 metres Lucy Rigby 5.29.3 seconds, U13 Girls 75 metres Isabel Male 10.0 seconds, U13 Girls 150 metres Isabel Male 19.7 seconds and Finally U15 Girls Hammer Meghan Sharman 34.41 metres. So the sprint double by both Isabel and Harrison were major highlights.
No doubt this event will now enter the annual event calendar for next year onwards
