Donald Brown had a superb run to finish 5th in the M50 100m at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Brazil. After easing his way through the heats and semi finals he ran time of 11.98 to finish in 5th place.  Video of Donald running a season’s best in the semi final is available on our Youtube page here and here. Well done Donald!

Fred Tremblay and Kevin Brown are also competing this week at the 800m and Discus. We wish them all the best.

Annual General Meeting – 22 October

The Annual General Meeting of RSCAC will be held on Tuesday 22 October in the Clubhouse at 8pm prompt. Please come along and support the club – All members over 18 years of age and Junior Members with their parents and/or friends are welcome to attend.

If you would like to stand for election to the Management Committee or would like any matters to be raised at the meeting please speak to Katie Jennings or Ernie Eames.

ERRA Young Athletes Road Relays – 13 October

We had a number of teams brave the atrocious weather yesterday to compete in the Young Athletes National Road Relays.

The U13 girls team of Melissa Adkins, Ellen Humpherston and Lucy Ollerenshaw ran superbly to finish in 26th position. We had two U15 girls teams competing – The A team of Libby Dunne, Georgia Curry and Grace Stirland finished 47th and the B team of Rebecca Evans, Emma Greenaway and Jessica Tarr finished 61st. Elmena Saunders was our sole entry in the U17 girls race, finishing 19th on the 1st leg.

National Road Relays – 12 October

http://www.racephotos.org.uk/The senior men and women’s teams put in battling performances at the National Road Relays today. The women finished 55th with Andrea Deathridge running the fastest leg for the club in a time of 16.45.

The men, who were missing 8 athletes who competed at the Midland Road Relays, finished in 74th place. Fred Tremblay showed he is in the form of his life running sub 20 for the first time whilst Dave Liddall had a great leg running a PB.

Thanks in particular to Kirsty who came in at late notice to ensure we completed a women’s team. The results are available below

West Midlands Young Athletes XC – 6 October

West Midlands Young Athletes XCWell done to everyone who competed at Hatton Estate today. There were some fantastic individual and team performances.

The top individual performance came from Alex Stapleton who blazed around the course to finish in 2nd place in the U11 boys race.  There were also top 20 finishes for Lucy Corker, Holly Tyson, Tamsyn Booth, Emily Sandbrook and Lucia Cantone (U11 girls), Joseph Martin (U11 boys), Melissa Adkins and Ellen Humpherston (U13 girls), Ben Horton (U13 boys), Alex Blackham (U15 boys), Sophia Karski (U17 women) and Shaun Evans (U17 men).

In the team races the star performance came from the U11 girls who finished joint 1st. The U11 boys were 2nd and the U13 girls were 3rd.

Cross Country is back!

West Midlands Young Athletes XC League - HattonThe cross country season starts this weekend with both the juniors and seniors in action. The senior men are competing tomorrow (Saturday) at the Midland XC Relays at the Walsall Arboretum. Race details are available here.

The young athletes have their first league fixture on Sunday morning at Hatton Estate, Warwick. Race details are available here.

Road race results – 29 September

Ollie Harradence was 4th home in the Nottingham Marathon last weekend in a time of 2.44 – An excellent performance, especially given Ollie was struggling with a cold in the days before the race. Colin McAuley and Megan McBrien recorded great times of 1.24 and 1.27 respectively in the half marathon.

Elsewhere Andrea Deathridge was the 3rd lady home at the Rugby 10 mile in a time of 1.07.
