Next Tuesday and Thursday, 7th and 9th July, for those athletes attending the U11 Endurance Squad (Martin, Colin etc) training sessions, we will be meeting at the Visitors Centre close to Town Gate in Sutton Park, at the usual time.
Track Remains Closed
Conscious a number of you have been asking when the track will reopen. Our update from Serco is they do not have any confirmed plans to reopen the track independently of the Leisure Centre at present and do not have a date where the Leisure Centre will be able to reopen. They are continuing work on their reopening plans and will await further guidance from the Government.
To confirm, Wyndley track remains closed.
U11’s Endurance Squad
The coaches have missed the opportunity to coach your athletes over the last few months and have been looking forward to having them return to the club, when safe to do so.
With that in mind we had a Zoom meeting last night (3/6/2020), wherein we discussed the possible return of some coaching sessions for the under 11’s endurance squad. England Athletics now state that groups of up to 6 can train.
With the guidelines changing, the coaches and I have in mind to return on Tuesday 23rd June 2020. Depending on numbers we will initially run 2/3 groups, following strict social distancing guidelines, with one coach per group of maximum 5 athletes, but all groups within the same general area.
We need to establish numbers, to ascertain if there is any interest for the above proposal. So could parents/carers contact either of the telephone numbers below?
If athletes are keen to return to training, then we encourage parents/carers to prepare them for the sessions by taking the athletes on some runs.
Once the first sessions have been put in place, these will be posted on the website, and will then operate on a first to reply basis. We would ask that no athlete should turn up if they have not had a training place confirmed.
Please monitor the Club website/Twitter, for any updates and changes to the regulations.
We all at RSCAC are looking forward to seeing you all again soon.
