5 RSCAC runners travelled down to London to race Mo Farah in the BUPA London 10k on Sunday. Their times were as follows:
The team (1st three counters) came 26th and for the record Mo Farah was home in 29.21. A bit more training to be done boys!
One that’s just come to our attention – well done to Olivia Larcombe who won the women’s race at the Hill West 10k last Sunday. This was her 1st competitive race for a couple of years. Great effort!
Well done to the young athletes team who won today’s YAL at Burton by 60 points. It was a great team effort with many epic performances. The relays were a clear highlight with 1st places in the U17M 4 x 100m, U17W 4 x 300m and U15B 4 x 300m. It was 2nd places for the U17W 4 x 100m and U15B 4 x 100m. Then it was 3rd places for the U13G 4 x 100m and U15G 4 x 100m.
There were so many 1st – 3rd places that it is really hard to mention everyone. So I think it’s best to say a big well done to everyone and tell you all to look out in this week’s Observer for the full write up!

We had two runners in the top five in the Hill West 10k in Sutton Park today. Russell Simpson finished 3rd and Colin McAuley finished 5th – both had great runs as they tried to get some speed back in their legs after their recent marathon exploits. Dave Liddell also ran well with a top ten finish.
Our athletes came back from the county championships with a good haul of medals.
In particular, there were victories for Elmena Saunders (U15 800m),
Gaby Kinney (U20 800m), Katie Ingle (U20 W steeplechase – new county record),
Rebecca Robinson (U20 1500m) and Megan Evans (Senior Long Jump).

Results are available here for British Masters Road Relays which took place yesterday in Sutton Park. We had four teams competing. The highlight was a 5th place finish for the Men’s 65 team of Clive Sayer, Doug Hyde and Reg Phipps. The other teams also performed well – The women’s 35 team finished 12th, with Andrea Deathridge running the 17th fastest leg of the day. The men’s over 35 team also finished 12th, and the men’s over 45 team finished 17th. Well done to everyone who took part and thanks to Bunny and Roy for all their help on the day.

Athletes from the club had the chance to compete in the Olympic Stadium at the weekend.
Justine Kinney and Adam Barnes competed respectively in the 400m hurdles and the 4x400m.
Justine won the final of the 400m hurdles in a time of 58.81 and was the first ever runner to winner a race
in the Olympic Stadium !

Adam Barnes competed in the 4x400m for Birmingham University in front of 46,000 people.
Adam:
“I ran 1st leg and we came third in our heat in a time of 3:24 and narrowly missed out on the final by 1 team.
The fastest 8 got through to the final and we were 9th fastest which is really gutting.
The olympic stadium is really really nice though. It was so such an experience and a privilege to be able to run in it”
The results are now available here from Saturday’s track and field meeting at Sutton-in-Ashfield. With a threadbare team we finished 5th on the day. The sprinters were in great form with Nicholas Pryce winning the 100m and 200m A races and Luke Fleming winning the 200m B race and finshing 2nd in the 400m B race. In the ladies sprints Charmaine Riley and Kanisha Hector won the A and B races in both the 100m’s and 200m’s (see the videos of the 100m on our Flickr page to see how well they ran).
The club also had victories in both the 800m races (Fred Tremblay and Nick Corker) and the 5000m (Nick Corker). Megan Stratford, Vikram Balachandar and Simon Corker also competed well in the middle distance events, earning valuable points for the club.
In the field events Megan Evans finished second in the high jump, and third in the triple jump and long jump. She also showed her credentials as a pentathlete by doing the javelin, 400m and 800m! Fiona Smith competed in all the throwing events, with the highlight being a second place in the hammer.
The day ended well with a second place in the women’s 4x100m relay and a win in the men’s 4x400m, where Nicholas Pryce had a flying last lap to overhaul Burton AC.
The next fixture is at Wyndley on 27 May. Please try and be available on this day to compete, help out or support the team.
Well done to Ollie Harradence who finished 3rd at the Lichfield Half Marathon today in a time of 1.14.51. Richard Cashmore (1.52.16) and Russell Simpson were the other Sutton runners competing. Full results available here.
