The taster session is cancelled until further notice. We will advertise on the website and social media when we can reopen. Sorry for any inconvenience.
The track and clubhouse (including toilets) will be open on Tuesday. Training will take place as usual but there will be no use of shared equipment. This includes bibs. Athletes are advised to wear their own bright clothing if they are in a distance group.
The clubhouse will be open for access to toilets etc., but entry will be controlled and may be restricted to a few at a time. Spare clothing and bags should be left in the stand (on the track) instead of in the clubhouse.
Training fees might be collected on a table outside the clubhouse.
Only individually wrapped snacks will be sold – no pick and mix!
Athletes, coaches and volunteers are reminded to follow existing good practices of: regular handwashing, covering a cough with a tissue and not wiping their face with unwashed hands. We advise everyone to wash their hands before and after training and bring any hand sanitisers with you.
Please stay away if you have a cough or fever.
Please continue to check the website and RSCAC socials regularly so you receive all updates.
The club will be issuing a statement regarding COVID-19 by tomorrow evening. Until then, this is what England Athletics have been sending out to athletes regarding COVID-19.
As a result of the coronavirus outbreak, England Athletics would like to ensure that all competitors, officials, coaches, staff and spectators are aware of the following advice from Public Health England (PHE) recommending that the following general cold and flu precautions are taken to help prevent people from catching and spreading COVID-19:
· cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze. See Catch it, Bin it, Kill it
· put used tissues in the bin straight away
· wash your hands with soap and water often – use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available. See hand washing guidance
· try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
· clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
· do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean
· athletes and runners are entitled, should they wish, not to shake hands or have any other form of physical contact with their opponents or officials
If you are experiencing difficulty breathing, have a high temperature or cough, please return and stay at home and call NHS 111. Do not go directly to your GP or other healthcare environment. Further information is available on the PHE blog and NHS.UK.

· anywhere in Italy on or after 9 March
· specific areas in northern Italy in the last 14 days
· Iran in the last 14 days
· Hubei province in China in the last 14 days
· Daegu, Cheongdo or Gyeongsan in South Korea in the last 14 days
Please return home, stay indoors and avoid contact with other people if you’ve travelled to the UK from the following places in the last 14 days and have a cough, high temperature or shortness of breath, even if your symptoms are mild:
· Italy (outside specific areas in northern Italy) before 9 March

Birmingham Sportshall League
Last weekend M55 Donald Brown continued his excellent indoor season by taking first place in both the M50 60m and the M50 60m Hurdles whilst representing Midland Masters at the Inter Area Challenge at Lee Valley. Donald also took third place in the M50 Shot. The meeting was won by the Midlands.
Donald’s 60m Hurdles time of 8.94 is a new M55 CLUB RECORD beating his previous time of 9.02 set in 2019. He also set a new M55 CLUB RECORD in the 6Kg Shot with 10.71m beating Graham Felton’s record of 9.85 set in 2004.
Last Sunday was the regional sportshall final.
Very well done to the following RSC athletes who were selected to represent Birmingham:
– U11s: Mollie Beeton, Florence Thomas-Male, Sam McGriffin and Zak Tisdale.
– U13s: Fraser Cook, Alfie Hall, Jayden Humphreys and Harrison North
– U15s: Noah Edwards, Gabby Godsell, Charlotte Prince, Tilly Strachen and Olivia Straw.
There were some great results! The u11 boys team, u11 girls team and u13 boys team all won. The u13 boys have now qualified for the national final!
The u13 girls, u15 boys and under 15 girls all came second.
In the u15s, there were individual victories for Gabby Godsell and Charlotte Prince in the 4 lap and Gabby Godsell and Tilly Strachen in the paarlauf relay. Noah Edwards got bronze in the 4 lap.
There were medals in the u13 boys for Jayden Humphreys in speed bounce; Harrison North in 2 lap; and Alfie Hall in the obstacle relay and 4 x 2 lap relay.
There is a chance that some award winners have been missed from the above. Apologies if so – there was so much going on it was hard to keep up!
There is no Plantsbrook session tonight, so please go to the track.
The remaining Plantsbrook sessions are 03/03 and 10/03.
Donald Brown set a time of 7.58 secs in the Indoor 60m at the Newham and Essex Open.
This beats the previous Club record of 7.60 jointly held by Ron Taylor (1990) and Donald (2019) himself.
At the time when Ron recorded the 7.60 it was a World Masters M55 record.
Nicholas Pryce’s super performances at the British Indoor Champs in Glasgow yesterday finished with him getting second place and the silver medal in the Mens 200m in a time of 21.29 secs which is a new CLUB RECORD beating his old record of 21.71 set just last week.
He actually broke the record in his heat with 21.61, his semifinal with 21.50 and then the Final with the 21.29.
Outstanding work Nicholas – well done!
