Kevin Brown added a great Bronze medal to his World Masters Championships medal haul amassed over the years.
In the Final of the Discuss Throw, in torrential rain conditions, he threw 40.88m.
This is another great result for the club, in this competition which is welcoming more than 4,000 athletes.
More to follow in the 200m now, where the hopes of more medals rest on the shoulders of Donald Brown.
Well done Kevin for bringing the club its first medal of these championships !
More great news from the Masters World Championships in Brazil, where Fred Tremblay finished in a fantastic 4th place in the M35 800m final. His time of 1.57.03 was a season’s best and was just outside a PB. Well done Fred!
There was some great running, jumping, throwing, speed bouncing from our junior athletes at the 1st Sportshall fixture on Friday evening. The results are available here. Well done to everyone!

Donald Brown had a superb run to finish 5th in the M50 100m at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Brazil. After easing his way through the heats and semi finals he ran time of 11.98 to finish in 5th place. Fred Tremblay and Kevin Brown are also competing this week at the 800m and Discus. We wish them all the best.
We had a number of teams brave the atrocious weather yesterday to compete in the Young Athletes National Road Relays.
The U13 girls team of Melissa Adkins, Ellen Humpherston and Lucy Ollerenshaw ran superbly to finish in 26th position. We had two U15 girls teams competing – The A team of Libby Dunne, Georgia Curry and Grace Stirland finished 47th and the B team of Rebecca Evans, Emma Greenaway and Jessica Tarr finished 61st. Elmena Saunders was our sole entry in the U17 girls race, finishing 19th on the 1st leg.

The senior men and women’s teams put in battling performances at the National Road Relays today. The women finished 55th with Andrea Deathridge running the fastest leg for the club in a time of 16.45.
The men, who were missing 8 athletes who competed at the Midland Road Relays, finished in 74th place. Fred Tremblay showed he is in the form of his life running sub 20 for the first time whilst Dave Liddall had a great leg running a PB.

We had two teams competing at the Walsall Arboretum on Saturday. On a flat and fast 4 mile course the A team of Nick Corker, Dave Long, Simon Corker and Stuart McCaw finished 13th.
The B team of Mark Rickards, Simon Ralph, John Fletcher and Richard Lewis finished 21st overall and were the 6th B team home. The results are available here.
Well done to everyone who competed at Hatton Estate today. There were some fantastic individual and team performances.
The top individual performance came from Alex Stapleton who blazed around the course to finish in 2nd place in the U11 boys race. There were also top 20 finishes for Lucy Corker, Holly Tyson, Tamsyn Booth, Emily Sandbrook and Lucia Cantone (U11 girls), Joseph Martin (U11 boys), Melissa Adkins and Ellen Humpherston (U13 girls), Ben Horton (U13 boys), Alex Blackham (U15 boys), Sophia Karski (U17 women) and Shaun Evans (U17 men).
In the team races the star performance came from the U11 girls who finished joint 1st. The U11 boys were 2nd and the U13 girls were 3rd.

Ollie Harradence was 4th home in the Nottingham Marathon last weekend in a time of 2.44 – An excellent performance, especially given Ollie was struggling with a cold in the days before the race. Colin McAuley and Megan McBrien recorded great times of 1.24 and 1.27 respectively in the half marathon.
Elsewhere Andrea Deathridge was the 3rd lady home at the Rugby 10 mile in a time of 1.07.
