Lucy lost her sight aged 17, with the dramatic change in her life leading to her to be diagnosed with depression. She has since taken up running which has really helped her. On 23 April she will be running the London Marathon with her guide, Royal Sutton athlete Steve Pitt. We wish them all the best!!!

If you want to support Lucy and Steve they will be raising money for Guide Dogs. A link to their Just Giving page is below:

Muninder smashes world record

Muninder in ActionOn a warm and Sunny Sunday Afternoon at Yeovil, Royal Sutton Coldfield athlete Muninder Singh Hayer set a new world record for the RRI Race Running 200 metres. His time was 55.10 seconds and this completely outclassed the previous World Record of 57.23 seconds. In addition he also set a new PB for 400 metres and seasons bests for 100 metres and Seated Club Throw F31. Muninder and Coach Graham Felton were both expecting that he would break the World Record this season, but not this early in the season and not by such a big margin. Training has been going well and everything is now geared towards the Race Running World Championships in Denmark in July which promises to be a great competition. Muninder will be competing over 60, 100, 200 and 400 metres at the Championships. 800 metres is his next challenge and he will be making his debut over this distance in York on the 27th May.

The event took place at Wollaton Hall, Nottingham and saw our athletes competing against the top runners from across the country. The top performances came from Shaun Evans, who finished in 10th place in the Junior Men’s race and Georgia Curry, who finished 17th in the Junior Women’s race. The were great runs by all our other athletes – well done everyone!!!
