Birmingham XC League Division 1 – 11 February

The last senior men’s league race of the season takes place this Saturday in Cheltenham. Race information is available here.

The team will be meeting at the Clubhouse for a 12 noon depart. Please contact Steve Marklew if you require further information.

Midland XC Championships – 28 January

Results are available here for the Midlands XC Championships at Nottingham. The U17 women continued their fantastic season by winning the team event for their age category, with Katie Ingle 4th, Megan McBrien 7th, Gabrielle Kinney 10th, Rebecca Robinson 12th and Rachel Smith 40th.

The results for other Royal Sutton runners were:

U13 girls – Laura Richardson (20th), Grace Stirland (52nd)
U15 boys – Alfie McBrien (14th), Shaun Evans (46th), Jerome Austin (60th)
U20 women – Amy Johnson (11th)

West Midlands Young Athletes Cross Country League – 22 January

The results are now available from the race at Nuneaton last Sunday (click here). Well done to everyone who braved the windy conditions. We scored 5,320 points which leaves us in 4th place, 77 points behind Halesowen (who scored 186 points more than us on the day). There were some great performances – in particular, there were top 5 finishes for Ellen Humpherson (U11 girls), Laura Richardson (U13 girls), Elemena Saunders (U15 girls) and Alfie McBrien (U15 boys).

The final league race is on 19 February at Perry Park. Let’s have a big effort and see if we can end the season in 3rd place.

Midland Masters XC Championships – 22 January

Well done to Clive Sayers, Roy Humpherson and Bunny Kyd who were M65 team runners up at the Midland Masters XC championships at Droitwich. In the individual race Clive was 8th (M65), Roy was 11th (M65) and Bunny was the 6th (M70).

Not The Roman Nine – 15 January

Well done to Pete Parker who was the M55-59 age group winner in the Not the Roman Nine race. He ran the 12km course in a time of 45.01. Other Royal Sutton runners were Ali Evetts, Stephen Sutton, Sarah Smewin and Bunny Kyd. Results are available here

Club members make 2011 British Masters rankings

Congratulations to four of our athletes who were listed in the 2011 British Masters rankings published in Athletics Weekly:

Kevin Brown – 1st Place in the M35, M40 and M45 categories for the Discus with a throw of 52.35m. Kevin set this whilst representing the club during the league match at Newport.
Donald Brown – 3rd Place in M45 Long Jump with a jump of 5.82m. This was set at the British Championships at Lee Valley.
Janice Pryce – 1st Place in W50 Triple Jump with a jump of 9.84m. Again, this was set at the British Championships at Lee Valley.
Sandra McDonald – 3rd Place in W50 200m with a time of 29.05. This was set at the Scottish Championships in Edinburgh.

For anyone keen to try out the indoor track, the NIA is available to use on selected dates in February. The cost is £3 for an adult and £2 for U18s/OAPs. Further details are available here

Birmingham XC League Division 1 – 14 January – Results

The results (provisional) are now available for today’s race:

Bham XC Div 1 – Individual Results – 14.1.12

Bham XC Div 1 Team Results – 14.1.12

We finished 13th on the day but are now in 14th place in the league (140 points behind Stoke and 145 points behind OWLs). There was a good turnout and some great individual performances. Well done in particular to Colin McAuley who scored for the “A” team for the first time and Kevin Sharkey who had a great run on his debut.
