This weekend’s cross country

www.birminghamccleague.co.ukThe senior men and women kick off their XC league campaigns this weekend at Newbold Comyn, Leamington. The women race at 1.30, the men race at 2.30.

For those who have not run at Leamington before, the course is “a good challenge” and includes a bit of mud, a steep energy sapping hill and a stream crossing. Click here to see the senior men tackle the stream last year. The course is being run anticlockwise this year.

Race information is available on the Birmingham XC League website here. Good luck everyone!

More results from the World Masters

More results from the World Masters this week where Donald Brown has been in action in the 200m and 100 hurdles. In the 200m Donald finished in 7th place in the final with a time of 24.74 (his semi-final time was a season’s best of 24.64). There was a massive field for this event – 10 heats, quarter finals, semi finals and the final (4 rounds in total)!

Donald also competed in the 100m hurdles where he secured the fastest time in the semi finals (the semis were the first time he had run a complete 100m hurdles this year due to injury). Unfortunately it wasn’t good news in the final where after a great start he hit the 4th hurdle hard and crashed out.

With a 5th place finish in the 100m, 7th in the 200m and a fast semi final time in the hurdles it shows Donald is returning to great form. And there may be still more to come in the relays. Well done Donald – we’re all proud of you!

Sportshall – 18 October

There was some great running, jumping, throwing, speed bouncing from our junior athletes at the 1st Sportshall fixture on Friday evening. The results are available here. Well done to everyone!

The next Sportshall fixture takes place on Friday 15 November. If anyone wants to get involved (it’s open to U11s, U13s and U15s) please speak to Tony Ashford, Fiona Smith or Megan Evans.
