Grand Prix Race 3 – Aldridge 10k

There were some great performances at the Aldridge 10k. Ollie Harradence followed up his Fun Run win with a 2nd place finish, whilst Steve Marklew won the M50 prize. Steve’s run was particularly impressive given that he ran both the 800m and 3000m for the senior men the previous day!

BMC Grand Prix – 31 May

Fantastic runs by Katie Ingle and Laura Whittle at the BMC Grand Prix at Sportcity. Katie smashed her PB and club record to run a time of 10.13.99 in the 3000m steeplechase. The time was well inside the qualifying standard for the World Junior Championships and puts her top of the UK rankings. Laura had a strong run to finish 2nd in the 5000m behind Helen Clitheroe in a time 15.36. The time places Laura 6th in the UK rankings.

Midland Veterans League – 28 May

Here’s a report by John Topliss on the latest Vets meeting:

“Great performances by everyone who competed on Wednesday in damp, cold, miserable conditions at Alexander Stadium. The results are available here:

MEN’S RESULTS

WOMEN’S RESULTS

Two new club records were set:
  • Joe Caines, now an M60, in his first outing for several years set a new record in the 200m in 27.7 beating my own record set ten years ago of 27.9 when getting the bronze medal in the British Champs. Either the track is short (but thinking about it that is where I set my time) or Joe is not 60. Seriously though well done Joe it was great to see you running again.
  • Graham Felton set a new M65 Discus (1.5Kg) record with 23.24m. Well done Graham.
The next meeting is at Burton on the 25th June with the last one at Wyndley on the 30th July. The Cup Finals are at Stoke on Sunday 31st August.
The next Midland Men’s and Women’s League meeting is on Saturday the 7th June at Worcester (a change from the original venue). Please make sure you’re available for this important match”

Trafford Grand Prix – 27 May

The sprinters were in great form at the Trafford Grand Prix on Tuesday. Nicholas Pryce won both his races, recording 10.93 in the 100m and 21.96 in the 200m. His times were the fastest recorded on the night (out of 12 100m races and 10 200m races). Nick Mbewe ran 11.74 the 100m and 23.49 to win his 200m race. Well done guys!
