Midland XC Championships – 26 January

Posted: January 27, 2013 by RSCAC in Race reports

Congratulations to our U20 women who had a great victory at the Midland XC Championships at Stafford Common yesterday.  Katie Ingle finished in 3rd place, Megan McBrien was 5th, Rebecca Robinson was 8th and Miranda Stoddart was 16th.  The result is all the more impressive given that all the runners are in the first year of this age group.

We also had great performances by our other runners in all the other age groups.  The full results are available here, photos are available on Bryan Dale’s website here, and videos are available on the Athleticos site here.  Well done everyone!

Posted: January 25, 2013 by RSCAC in General Info

There may be snow on the ground and the temperatures may be minus five but it’s not that long until the outdoor athletics season is upon us.  The dates for the senior track and field league have now been announced and are as follows:

  • Saturday 18 May – Leamington
  • Sunday 9 June – Abingdon
  • Sunday 7 July – Dudley
  • Saturday 10 August – Wyndley

Let’s see if we can have another great season following our promotion last year.

Good luck to everyone competing at the Midlands XC Champs tomorrow!

Well done to everyone who braved the snow for the 4th West Midlands Young Athletes race at Nuneaton on Sunday.  Great performances from everyone in atrocious conditions.  Highlights included a 2nd place for Shaun Evans in the U15 boys and 3rd place for Kieran Mullis in the U13 boys.  The full results are available here.

Due to the snow, there will be no sprint or throws session with Graham tonight (Thurs). Please spread the word! Other groups may still be training. You’ll need to contact your coach.

The sprint/long jump/hurdles group will be indoors at the high performance centre at the Alexander Staium Perry Barr tomorrow (Friday) from 5.30 – 7pm. It costs £2.10 for under 16 and £4.20 for over 16. If you fancy it, come along. You pay at the main Alenxander Stadium reception, they’ll give you a wrist band and then you walk across to the indoor centre.

Over and Out.

West Midlands Young Athletes XC race still on

Posted: January 19, 2013 by RSCAC in General Info

Based upon an announcement at midday today (Saturday) on the WMYACCL website the Young Athletes XC fixture at Nuneaton is still on.  Click here for further details.  Good luck to everyone competing!

Our sprinters had a great start to the indoor season at the High Performance Centre on Saturday.  Nicholas Pryce set another club record in the 60m sprint with a time of 7.03 seconds. This breaks a record of 7.1 seconds set in 1988 by James Simmons.  Nicholas now is the holder of all the senior men club sprint records upto 400m.  Adam Barnes also ran a couple of fast times.

The results are available here.  Videos are available on the Athleticos site here.  Nick’s record breaking run is here.
